Neodymium, discovered in 1885, was alloyed with iron and boron in the early 1980s to create the “Neodymium magnets” we use today. These “Rare Earth Magnets” are much stronger than Ferrite magnets. Their strength is indicated by their “N” number, ranging from N27 to N52.

Durability and Handling Information
All nickel-plated Neodymium magnets are designed for dry conditions. These magnets are hard and brittle, requiring careful handling to avoid injury from trapped fingers, pinched skin, or flying metal shards.
Handling Precautions:
- Avoid allowing magnets to jump together or to steel, as they may shatter.
- Suitable for use up to 80°C.
- Keep away from sensitive items like credit cards, computers, mobile phones, and CDs.
- Not safe for use near pacemakers or other medical devices.
Performance Factors:
Pull strengths vary with steel thickness (thinner steel = lower pull strength), steel quality (e.g., pitted/corroded), and surface finish (painted or powder-coated surfaces reduce pull force).
Care must be taken when handling these fishing magnets as there is a danger of trapped fingers, pinched skin and flying shards of metal if carelessly handled. Never allow magnets to jump together or to jump to steel as they will likely shatter. Suitable for usage up to a maximum of 80 degree Centigrade. Always keep magnets away from items that may be damaged by the powerful magnetic field such as credit cards, computers, mobile phones, cd’s. Not to be handled near to or by people with Pace makers or other medical devices. The actual pull strengths will vary depending on other variables such as: Steel thickness( the thinner the steel the lower the pull strength ), Steel Quality( for example pitted/corroded ), Surface finish( painted, powder coated will result in a reduced pull force ).
