Neodymium, discovered in 1885, was alloyed with iron and boron in the early 1980s to create the powerful “Neodymium magnets” we use today. These magnets, also known as “Rare Earth Magnets,” are many times stronger than Ferrite magnets. Their strength is indicated by their “N” number, ranging from N27 to N52.
